SUMMARY

Lux is a mobile 3D Puzzle game. Players are presented a start point "Lamp/Light Source"and an endpoint  "Crystal". Players are given the freedom to explore the area by moving the camera to different angles and thus get a better view of the level. In order to complete the levels,  players will need to place mirrors, color changers, color mergers and extra floors in the right position to guide the light beams towards the crystals. Most of the game mechanics have been already finished and more than 40 levels have been created. The next steps will be working with artists and musicians to polishing the game for a future release.

DETAILS

For this game, I am taking the role of Programmer, thus I have been in charge of developing all of the mechanics and interactions presented in the game. The main aspect I have had in consideration while developing mechanics is the optimization of game behaviors since the game is aim to be published on mobile platforms. Some solutions we have implemented to optimize the game has been to only update the light beams when players do any actions instead of constantly updating them. Additionally to this, we have implemented multiple finger gestures to interact on the game, for example: swiping rotates the camera, tapping rotates the objects, holding and dragging deletes objects, etc. With these additions to the game, we are planning on making the mechanics as natural as possible. 

 

Another interesting part I have been working on is allowing the player to customize the items they place on the levels. As it can be seen in the video players are able to choose which colors will be used in the items they place.
